Barbara Ann (Bowker) White, age 78, of West Bridgewater, died peacefully on Sunday May 17, 2015 at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in North Easton, MA after a lengthy struggle with both heart and lung diseases. She was the devoted wife of the late Frederick A. White for fifty-two years.
Born in Weymouth, the daughter of the late George E. and Florence (Reichert) Bowker, Barbara attended Braintree schools and graduated from Braintree High School, Class of 1954. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing, Class of 1957, in Boston, MA. She worked for many years at South Shore Hospital and at the Goddard Hospital where her field of expertise was maternity and delivery.
Barbara and her husband enjoyed Bermuda and vacationed there for multiple weeks each year in their time-share apartment. It became their Shangri-La.
Barbara is survived by her brother Robert E. Bowker and his wife Marjorie of Weymouth; a niece Susan B. Foster of Milton; a nephew William R. Bowker of Enfield, CT and four grand nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the many months of daily skilled and compassionate care that Barbara received from the nurses of the Brockton Visiting Nurses Association.
Funeral services and arrangements will be private.
