Henry C. Durfee, Jr., 92, of Tiverton, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He was the husband of Eunice L. (Tripp) Durfee.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Henry C. Durfee, Sr. and Grace (Stafford) Durfee, he had been a lifelong resident of Tiverton. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Coast Guard. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a wharf builder at the U.S. Naval Station in Newport. He was also a volunteer Firefighter for the former Stone Bridge Fire Department, Tiverton. Mr. Durfee built his own fishing boat and loved to go quahogging.
Survivors along with his wife include his son: David C. Durfee and his wife Rosalie of Tiverton; his daughter: Marjorie Ann Noonan and her husband Tim of E. Alstead, NH; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Grace M. Snell and grandfather of the late Timothy W. Noonan, Jr. and Brittany N. Fazzina.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton.
