Jean L. Gearty, age 85, died peacefully on Monday morning, May 18, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with her family at her bedside.
She was born in Medford in August 1929, a daughter of the late Leo F. and Florence (Crowe) Gearty. She was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School. She moved to Tewksbury in 1985, and was a member of the Indian Ridge community.
Jean retired from Verizon, where she had worked as an accounting clerk.
She leaves two daughters, Gail Crouch and her husband Edwin, and Linda Balcom and her husband Roy all of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson and her husband Ronald, Michael Crouch and his wife Sarene, Matthew Crouch, Alan Balcom and Ryan Balcom and his wife Amanda, two great grandchildren, Aria and Kaiden; a brother, Ret. Lt. Paul Gearty and his wife Louise of Tewksbury; several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by her brothers, Chester Gearty and Richard Gearty.
At her request funeral services are private.
