Obituary

DAVIS - Michael L. "Mike" Davis, 49, passed away Sunday evening, May 17, 2015 at his Yulee residence.
Mike was born July 20, 1965 in Fernandina Beach and was a life-long resident of the Fernandina Beach - Yulee area. He was a member of the River of Praise Worship Center (Yulee Church of God) where he sang in the choir, played trumpet and helped with the music. He was a Living Historian at Fort Clinch where he re-enacted a Civil War occupation of the fort. He was a bugle player and worked on the cannon crew.
He enjoyed studying trains, was a historian and loved war cannons. Most of all he loved the Lord and spending time with his family. He was always ready to give encouragement to those who needed it.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Henry Davis, who passed away in 1996 and by his brother, Troy Davis in 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Davis of Yulee, FL; his daughters, Jessica and Ashton; his mother, Betty Jo Davis; father in law, Al Knowles; two brothers, Don Davis (Starr) of Yulee and Phil Davis (Teri) of Hilliard, FL; a sister, Joann Davis Knight (Kevin) of Yulee; two sisters in law, Connie Davis of Waycross, GA, Leigh Knowles (James) of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Abigail, Hailey and Justin Michael; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at the River of Praise Worship Center with Bishop Larry Osburn officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Green Pine Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or to 21st Century Oncology.
