TEWKSBURY - Jean M. (O’Donnell)(Sprague) Knight, age 79, died peacefully Monday morning, May 18, after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence Knight, who died in 1995, and was previously married to the late George W. Sprague.
She was born in Melrose, October 24, 1935, one of seven children of the late Phillip and Mary (Hollander) O’Donnell. She had lived in Tewksbury the greater part of her life where she raised her family of six. While raising her family, she was active in St. Dorothy’s Parish, and was also an Assistant Girl Scout Troop Leader.
Family was very important to Jean. She was a faithful member of her family’s Thursday Night Craft group held weekly in Reading. She was a foster Mom to three infants, volunteer driver for the elderly and Home Health Aide. She also loved gardening, nature and the outdoors.
She is survived by five children, Sharon Liles of Tewksbury, Debora Slavin and her husband Robert of No. Billerica, Brian Sprague of Reading, Daniel Sprague, and Wendy Sprague both of Tewksbury; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her sisters and brothers; Phyllis Eldredge of Methuen, Robert O’Donnell and his wife Patricia of West Peabody and FL, Maureen MacDonald and her husband Warren of Wilmington, Carol Rockwood and her husband Dale of Byfield; a sister-in-law, Brenda O’Donnell of No. Hampton, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late, Joanne Mancuso, and sister of the late Joseph O’Donnell and David O’Donnell.
