Obituary


WEST BALDWIN- Fred Lowell Douglas, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2015 at his home.
He was born in Cornish on July 11, 1926, a son of the late Leroy and Viola (Lowell) Douglas.
After graduating high school, Fred went on to proudly serve in the US Navy During WWII. During his service, Fred served on the USS McKee as a Third Class Gunners Mate in the Pacific.
Upon returning home, Fred worked as a Nuclear Inspector for the US Navy Submarine Fleet in South Carolina for many years.
Fred will always be remembered as a patriotic man who enjoyed hunting, crossword puzzles, and crocheting hats for needy folks.
He is predeceased by his wife- Doris Douglas; daughter- Cynthia Meadows; and siblings- Clara and Clinton.
Fred is survived by his longtime partner- Lillian (Anderson) Rines; son- Stanley Douglas and his wife Denise of SC; sisters- Gladys and Rosalie; and grandchildren- Joey and Jason.
A graveside service with US Navy Honors will be held on Wednesday May 27 at 11 AM at Riverside Cemetery in Cornish.
