Jean Brannon “Heap” Waters
Augusta, GA – Mr. Heap Waters, 83, husband of Mrs. Bobbie Waters entered into rest to be with the Lord Friday, May 15, 2015 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Waters was a native of Charleston, SC but chose Augusta as his home. He was a graduate of the High School of Charleston after which he enlisted in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. After the military he attended the University of Maryland on a football scholarship where he played on the 1955 undefeated Orange Bowl team. Heap was also a heavy weight boxer on the Intercollegiate Boxing Team. In 1957 he was drafted by George Halas and the Chicago Bears. He retired after 25 years of service with Glaxo Smith Kline to pursue private business interests in the medical field.
Heap Waters was a longtime member of Westlake Country Club, an avid golfer, sports enthusiast, and a passionate outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife Bobbie, daughter Krista Gong, son-in-law Harvey Gong, sons Steven Waters and Dean Waters, daughter-in-law Leigh Ann Waters, grandchildren Craig Waters, Ray Waters, and Natalie Waters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Episcopal Church with Dr. Joe Bowden officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
