Obituary

Betty Jean Fender King, 85, of Ty Ty passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Salone Green and Rev. Justin Devereaux officiating. Mrs. King will be laid to rest at First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 17, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. King’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. King was born April 25, 1930 in Nashville (Berrien County in the Askew Place Community), the daughter of William “Doc” Fender and Viola Gaskins Fender, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth Rayford King, who she married May 10, 1969 and who died August 13, 2010; one son, Sammy Hogan; two brothers, Claxton Fender and Larry Fender; one sister, Myrtle Lee Nell Pope; and one granddaughter, Amanda Waites. She was a bookkeeper at Napa Distribution Center for 28 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty for 40 years.

Mrs. King is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard and Annette Hogan of Ty Ty, Steve and Leecy Hogan of Martinez and Timothy King of Columbus; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley Murphy of Ty Ty, Martha Easterling and Clark Bowen of Pitts, Teressa and Donnie Purvis of Tifton and Gail and Loren Rackley of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Frankie Hogan Lanham of Augusta; 22 grandchildren, Stacy and Jennifer of Belmont, Mississippi, Ricky and Meredith of Belmont, Mississippi, Michael and Misty of Golden, Mississippi, Elizabeth and Rusty of Belmont, Mississippi, Donna and Jerry of Ramsey, Minnesota, Eric and Karrie of Hoover, Alabama, Chris and April of Ty Ty, Tonya of Dallas, Robert and Tanya of Dallas, Tammy and Scott of Dallas, Lindsey of Augusta, Beth and David of Augusta, Cindy of Augusta, Sammy of Augusta, Chad and Ashley of Tifton, Donnie of Miami, Florida, April of Columbus, Amber of Columbus, Brian of Columbus, Kristy of Columbus, Kayla of Columbus and Zack of Columbus; 42 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
