Paul P. Gartland of Boston’s South End passed away suddenly at Tufts Medical Center on Sunday. He was 52. Mr. Gartland was raised in Cambridge, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Mili) Gartland. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BA in Psychology and earned his nursing credential at the Somerville Hospital School of Nursing. . A Registered Nurse for 22 years, Paul worked at Massachusetts General Hospital and for the past 10 years was at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Paul enjoyed travelling. He went all over the world visiting many interesting and unusual spots such as Syria and North Korea. He also enjoyed spending time in Provincetown during the summer months.
The beloved husband of Freddy Sossa of Boston, he was a devoted brother to Joseph M. Gartland and his wife Karen of Harvard, Chris Gartland of Wilmington, and the late David Gartland. He was a dear uncle to Joseph R. and Amy Rose Gartland both of Harvard and is also survived by many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday May 19th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Service in Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High St., Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. Interment will be private.
