Anthony “Tony” A. Vasi, 81, of Ocilla passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at his residence. A private funeral service and burial will be held for Mr. Vasi at a later date. The family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, 2015, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Vasi was born July 7, 1933 in Manhattan, New York, the son of Peter Vasi and Josephine Coupani Vasi, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Josephine “Gidget” Ganey; two brothers, Andrew Vasi and Rosario Vasi; and two sisters, Ida Reardon and Mary O’Brian. He was a self-employed artist and member of Shepard’s Chapel in Ocilla. He had lived in Ocilla for the past 25 years.
Mr. Vasi is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dianne Marie Ghigna Vasi of Ocilla; two sons, Peter Vasi of Adel and Michael Vasi of Tifton; one daughter, and son-in-law, Della and Scott Caywood of Ocilla; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Carol Vasi of Ocala, Florida, Della and George Rice of Belleview, Florida and Jeanne and Louis E’Amico of Atlanta; ten grandchildren, Nicole Reed, Dana Destin, Steven Ganey, A. J. Vasi, Aaron Harris, Dianna Caywood, Lloyd Caywood, Michael Vasi, Derek Vasi and Erica Vasi; and 12 great-grandchildren.
