Carolyn Ernestine Harper, 74, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Pruitt Health Ocilla in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Irwin County, with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at The Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, Georgia.
Mrs. Harper was born March 5, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Ernest and Susie Champion Harper. She lived in the community most of her life and was a former employee of Polly’s dress shop, Ocilla Pharmacy, Shiloh Personal Care Home, a private sitter for the elderly and also a homemaker. Mrs. Harper was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Aubrey LaRue Harper of Ocilla; children: Steve & Lorrie Harper of Fitzgerald, Linette Harper of Ocilla and Jan H. & Gary Collins of Leesburg; grandchildren: Crista H. & Ashley Clements, Carlee Harper, Chelsea Rubio, Logan Rubio, Madison Rubio, Mandie H. & Chip Dixson, T.J. Harper and Dusty Harper; six great-grandchildren; a brother: Eddie & Brenda Harper of Osierfield and sisters: Willa Sue & Junior Norton of Fitzgerald and Vivian Barrentine Masterson of Clearwater, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Robert “Buck” Harper and two sisters: Elizabeth Ann Clark and Miriam Claudette Hines.
