Obituary

Methuen, Ma. - Philip Fluet, 78, of Methuen, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, after a short battle with cancer.

Phil was born on August 9, 1936, one of 4 children of the late Ernest and Bertha (Hamel) Fluet. He was raised and educated in Methuen, a graduate of Central Catholic High School, served 4 years in the United States Air Force, and later attained an associate’s degree from Newbury Junior College.

He worked for and retired from Raytheon. Phil was an avid golfer and an active member with the Methuen Senior Center, Northern Essex Elderly Transport (N.E.E.T), Nevins Memorial Library, and the Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his two grandsons. Phil was an amazing man always putting others’ needs before his own and will be missed by many people.

His surviving family members include his loving children, Timothy Fluet of Methuen, Daniel Fluet and wife, Tish of Glastonbury, CT; siblings, Ernest Fluet and wife, Rita of Andover, Louise Fluet of Salem, NH; grandchildren, Aidan and Avery; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen and brother, Norman.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Phil’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 4-8 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen on Saturday at 9 AM. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested, in Phil’s honor, memorial contributions be made to Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity, 60 Island Street, 2nd floor East, Lawrence, MA 01840 or visit www.merrimackvalleyhabitat.org/donate/.
