Obituary

NATICK: Rose M. (Patten) Tate, age 92, a former resident of Atlanta, GA, and Mt. Vernon, NY, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2015, at Mary Ann Morse Nursing and Rehab Center in Natick, her home for the past 2 years.

Born, raised and educated in Brooklyn, NY, Rose was a daughter of the late John and Mary Patten. She earned a Baccalaureate of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College where she studied renaissance art.

Rose married and raised a son, Tom, in Mt. Vernon, NY. Employed with WCBS Broadcasting in New York until her 1969 retirement, she then dedicated herself as a mother and homemaker, and spent many summers in Lake George, NY, with fondest memories of the “breakfast club”. In 1985, she relocated to Atlanta, GA, and enjoyed her “empty nest” life by travelling and re-connecting with cousins and friends. Rose spent the past seven years close to family in Massachusetts where she enjoyed time with her granddaughter, reading, and watching movies, when she found time away from solving crossword puzzles.

Rose is survived by Tom, his wife Carolyn Deslaurier-Tate and Rose’s granddaughter, Cecilia Deslaurier-Tate, all of Milford.

There will be a private remembrance for family, held at Everett & Sons Funeral Home in Natick, MA on May 15. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Rose M. Tate may be offered on the family’s Memorial Page at the Multiple Sclerosis Society: http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/rmtate.
