Obituary

John W. "Jack" Ring, a resident of Quincy and formerly of Charlestown and South Boston, entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Whidden Hospital in Everett following an extended illness. He was 76 years old.

Jack was born in Boston on February 14, 1939, a son of the late John F. Ring and Celia (Noonan) Ring-Hafey. Jack grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1956. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on September 11, 1956 and served his country with pride and courage during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on September 10, 1958 with the rank of Corporal. Jack worked for over 30 years as a Book Binder for the Boston Public Library and was a retired Secretary - Treasurer for the Graphic Communication International Union Local # 600. Jack enjoyed traveling to Aruba, Twin Rivers and Foxwoods with his wife Pat.

Jack is the beloved husband of the late Patricia McGonagle-Ring. He is the devoted brother of Judy Burton of Charlestown, Bill Hafey and his wife Mary of Derry, New Hampshire, Ed Hafey of Derry, New Hampshire and the late Donald Ring and Theresa Ring. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Charlie McGonagle and his wife Sandy of Middleboro. He is also the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack's Funeral on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
