Mary Lou McDonald, 95, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating.
One of thirteen children, Mrs. McDonald was born July 22, 1909, in Jefferson, Georgia, to the late Tom P. and Zipporah “Zip” Hayes Davis. She raised her family here in Fitzgerald and was very active with the PTA. She moved back to the community in 1980. Mrs. McDonald was an assistant to the Dean of Women at Wesleyan College and Middle Georgia College. She retired in 1979 from Brenau College in Gainesville. Mrs. McDonald was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, a former Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Circle.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by her son and daughter: Carlton D. McDonald, Tifton, GA and Mary Elie McDonald, Brunswick, GA; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother and three sisters: John R.Davis, Pansy Alexander and Vera Scott, all of Jefferson, GA and Ellen Perry, Winder, GA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quincy C. McDonald and three sons.
