Obituary

Charles Almeida, 88, of Dartmouth died February 21, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Inese (Fornaciari) Almeida.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Sylvia) Almeida, he had lived in New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth in 1966.
He was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in North Dartmouth.
Mr. Almeida was formerly employed as a driver salesman for Tropical Banana Company in Brockton for 35 years. During World War II, he worked at the Naval Torpedo Yard in New London, Conn.
He was a charter member of the Sons of Italy and had been a Dartmouth Town Meeting member for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading and hunting
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Catherine Michaud, and her husband Robert, of Dartmouth; a grandson, Charles L. Michaud, and his wife Jaclyn, of Westport; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
He was the brother of the late Thomas Almeida, Frank Almeida Jr., and Mary Souza.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Thursday, February 24th at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Wednesday, February 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
