FALL RIVER - Mary (Mello) Morel, age 93, wife of the late Alfred O. Morel & the late Antone Furtado. Residence 100 Amity St. Fall River, formerly of Hope St. & Mitchell Dr. Fall River. Died Monday in Fall River at Southpointe Nursing Care Facility.
Born in Fall River she was the daughter of the late Bento Mello and the late Mariana (Tavares) Mello. She was born and raised in Fall River before moving to New Bedford for 13 years, then lived in Pennsylvania for 2 ½ years before returning to Fall River in 1981. Before retiring, she was employed as a machine operator in the Weave Room of the former ABDON Textile Co. for 24 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. She is survived by 2 daughters: Joan Raymond of Mapleville, RI and Lorraine Gifford of Fall River, 3 Brothers: Joseph Mello of Westport, Bento Mello of Westport, John Mello of Westport, 1 Sister: Wilhelmina “Gert” Lima of Westport, 12 Grandchildren, 23 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great-granddaughter and several Nieces and Nephews. She was the sister of the late Deolinda Nadeau and Manuel Mello.
Her Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street on Thursday, February 24th at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St. Fall River at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery II, New Bedford, MA. Calling Hours Wednesday 4-8 P.M.
