Margaret M. Benedict, 64, of 296 Old Lake Shore Rd. died Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at her residence. She was born in Somerville MA on October 9, 1937, the daughter of Peter E. and Catherine J. (Flynn) Baird. She has been a Gilford resident for many years.
Prior to her retirement due to illness, she was employed at K-mart as a sales clerk. Mrs. Benedict was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes parish.
Her husband, Clyde M. Benedict died in 1990. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Family members include two daughters, Deborah A. Vachon and her husband Cliff Vachon of Belmont, Catherine G. Wall and her husband Duane Wall of Brooksville FL; three sons David P. Nelson, Peter E. Nelson and his wife Meg Nelson, Ronald D. Nelson and his wife Julie Nelson, all of Gilford; 9 grandchildren; a great grandchild; two sisters, Helen Baird of Lawrence MA and Johanna Coy of Andover MA; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial reception will be held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Laconia on Friday from 7 to 9 PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St., Lakeport Saturday at 10 AM. Rev. George J. Soberick will be the celebrant. Urn burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford. Memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia NH 03246. David L. Furber and Timothy C. Molan are the funeral directors.
