Obituary

LOWELL—David C. Lord, 77 years old, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Friday evening, February 18th, at Saints Memorial Medical Center, after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Marilyn P. (Johnson) Lord, who survives him.

He was born in Ipswich, on December 9, 1927, a son of the late George T. and Nettie L. (Wright) Lord, and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School and the Progressive School of Photography, in Connecticut.

Mr. Lord served in the United States Naval Reserves. He had been employed for over 40 years as a Dispatcher by the A & L Taxi Company. He had also been employed as a Postal Worker. He enjoyed playing bingo and doing crossword puzzles.

Surviving him besides his wife are a six children and their spouses: Cheryl Heyl; David and Barbara Lord; Paula and Russell Ripley; Gladys and John Urban; Russell Lord; and Walter and Joan Lord; all of Lowell; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers: George T. Lord; of Virginia; and Robert D. ‘Tanker’ Lord, of Lowell; a friend of Bill W.

He was the father of the late Richard W. Lord and father-in-law of the late Normand C. Heyl.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM on Tuesday, February 22nd, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 23rd, at 11 AM at the funeral home.
