Obituary

Virginia F. “Ginny” Maloney, age 77, passed away February 20th, following a lengthy battle against cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late George E. Maloney. Born in Somerville, MA she was the daughter of the late Fred and Alice (Pringle) Dekow.

Ginny was a life long resident of Woburn. She grew up in North Woburn and attended Woburn Schools. She worked for many years as a cashier starting in 1965 with Purity Foods in North Woburn and later when it became Super Stop and Shop. She continued working until her illness made her stop in November of last year.

Ginny was devoted to her family and also enjoyed bird watching and gardening. Her flower garden was always spectacular and won first prize in the Woburn Times contest in 2003.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ginny is preceded in death by her brother Robert Dekow. She is survived by her children, Thomas Maloney and his wife Elaine of South Korea, Linda D´Agostino and her husband Joe of Wakefield, Cynthia Hickey and her husband Don, Deborah Littell and her husband Terry all of Woburn. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Joshua, Jillian, David, Alex, Austin, and Amanda. She is further survived by her brother Fred Dekow and his wife Barbara of Woburn, and sister, Dorothy DeMonico also of Woburn.

A graveside service will be conducted in Woodbrook Cemetery, Salem St., Woburn, Friday, February 25th, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In keeping with Ginny´s wishes there will be no viewing hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ginny´s memory to the North Congregational Church, 896 Main St., Woburn 01801
