Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Everett P. McBride, Sr., age 76, a resident of Tewksbury for 38 years, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.
He was the husband of Eleanor V. (Sachs) McBride who died in 1964 and Barbara J. (Brazee) McBride who died in 1980.
Born in Garrett, Indiana on January 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Charles and Pearl (Heffilfinger) McBride. Mr. McBride was raised in Garrett, Indiana and attended Garrett High School.
In 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Rochester. Mr. McBride was awarded several decorations and citations including the World War II Victory Medal, a Presidential Testimonial, the Mediterranean Navy Occupation Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, the Massachusetts House of Representatives Citation for valiant and dedicated U.S. Navy service, the Massachusetts State Senate Citation for selfless courage shown in defense of life, liberty and freedom and the Town of Tewksbury Selectman’s Citation for the self sacrifice shown in pursuit of world peace, liberty and freedom. He was honorably discharged from active duty on January 5, 1950 having earned the rank of Seaman Apprentice.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was employed for 40 years as a brakeman by the New Haven, Penn Central and Conrail Railroad Companies of Boston.
Mr. McBride was a resident of Tewksbury since 1968 and was a member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church and the Tewksbury V.F.W. Post # 8164.
Before moving to Tewksbury, he lived in Wilmington for several years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition, he enjoyed playing cribbage.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Donna L. Ardolino and her husband Paul of Florida, Kathleen J. Goss of Tewksbury and Nancy A. Hicks of Milton, MA; 4 sons; Albert W. Goss of Manchester, NH, Salem, NH Board of Selectman Chairman, Everett P. McBride, Jr. and his wife Doreen (Bowman) of Salem, NH, Thomas S. Goss of Tucson, AZ and Paul C. McBride of North Hampton, NH; 2 brothers; Dean McBride and his wife Dora of Butler, IN and Harley McBride and his wife Janet of Hamilton, IN; 12 grandchildren; Christopher, Ryan and Katelyn McBride all of Salem, NH, Kimberly Risinger of Florida, Rachel Lyon of Georgia, Timothy Hicks of Woburn, Justin Bynum and Kevin Koffi both of Milton, Kerri Lynne Woodard of Manchester, NH, Michael and Bryant Goss both of Florida and Melissa Giles of Tewksbury; 3 great grandchildren; Emileigh, Victoria and Nicholas Risinger all of Florida; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McBride was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Calling hours Friday, Feb. 18th from 4-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral services Saturday, Feb. 19th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 are requested.
