Silvano B. Tavares. Age 90. Husband of Hortense M. (Barbosa) Tavares. Residence 140 Haute Dr., Somerset,MA. Died Tuesday at St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in Feteiras, Sao Miguel, Azores. Son of the late Jacinto Tavares and the late Maria de Carmo (Raposo)Tavares. He was a Somerset resident since 1966. Before retiring, he was a Machine Operator at the former Highpoint Paper Box Co. of Fall River. He was a member of St. Michael Church.
Besides his wife of Somerset, he is survived by Two Sons: Victor M.B. Tavares of Somerset, MA and Lee J. Tavares of Somerset, MA. Five Grandchildren, One Great-Grandson, and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Joao, Jacinto, and Manuel Tavares, Maria de Gloria, Georgina Araujo, and Maria Jose Pavao.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. on Saturday at 8:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Internment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours Friday 5-8 P.M.
