Obituary

George H. Gannon, 76, of Kennewick entered into rest on April 17, 2015.
He was born on August 4, 1938 in Colfax, Washington to George and May (Seals) Gannon. He was raised in Honolulu and attended Punahou School until the eighth grade. He completed his education in Mabton where he graduated from high school. George served in the U.S. Air Force for two years and was stationed in Michigan and Alaska. He then graduated from Yakima Valley College where studied accounting and then was bookkeeper in the family business, Yakima Chief of Mabton. He also worked as a carpenter, logger and for the railroad. In, 1978, he inherited the family farm which he operated until he retired from farming. After that he worked as a logger, during grape harvest for friends and panned for gold.
George married Emma Maganas on August 8, 2006 and they made their home in Kennewick. He loved fast cars, motorcycles, fishing and a cold beer or two. He also enjoyed playing and watching golf and was a Seattle Seahawks and Nebraska Corn Huskers fan. He was a member of the AM Vets, Prosser VFW and Prosser Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Gannon of Kennewick; sister, Caroline Strausz Cerillo of Vancouver, WA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A Memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16th at the Prosser VFW with Full Military Honors provided by the Lower Valley Honor Guard.
