Obituary

Dorothy J. (Morris) Hammond “Nene” of Newton, formerly of Natick passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Stone Institute of Newton at the age of ninety-four.

Born in Ashland, Massachusetts on March 9, 1921, she was the daughter of Albert and Frieda (Pitman) Morris. She was raised in Ashland and Natick and attended Natick Schools.

Dorothy was a homemaker and loved her entire family. She enjoyed singing, music, going to the beach, apple picking every year and arm wrestling her grandchildren.

She was the devoted wife of the late Charles E. Hammond and together they shared twenty years of marriage before he passed away.

She was a loving mother of Loretta Parker and her husband George of Natick, Joann Lemerise and her husband Scott of N. Grafton, Mark Hammond and his wife Maria of Salem and the late Charles E. Hammond, Jr. and his wife Betty “Liz” of SC.

Cherished grandmother of Steve Parker and his wife Nancy of Natick, Thomas Parker and his wife Doreen of Uxbridge, Jeffrey Parker and his wife Olga of Newtonville, Kathleen McGrath and her husband John of Georgetown, Texas, Keith Parker and his wife Sheila of Millville, Wendie Perry and her husband Bruce of Bluffton, SC, Missie Hammond of Tennessee, Todd Hammond and his wife Lauren of Sudbury, Jeanine Lemerise of Shrewsbury, Meagan Hawkins and her husband Matthew of Gardner and Katelyn Lincoln and her husband James of Lexington, Kentucky.

Great grandmother of twenty-seven and great, great grandmother of five.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 11:00AM in the John Everett & sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend and the family will receive guests from 9:00-11:00AM.

Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick following the service.

Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s’ Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
