Mary Florence Hudson, 80, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, May 8, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Elder Charles Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Hudson was born April 1, 1935, in McRae, Georgia to the late John B. Rowell, Sr. and Jewell Mae Nix Rowell. She lived in the Ocilla community all of her life and was a former peanut inspector and a dispatcher for the Ocilla Police Department. Mrs. Hudson enjoyed artwork, painting, landscaping and crafts. She was an avid racing fan and followed Kasey Kahne, #5. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son and his wife: W. A. “Mac” McCollum, Jr. and LeeAnn of Albany; grandchildren: W. A. “ASA” McCollum, III, Brandy Tarrance and Crystal Livingston; seven great-grandchildren; a brother: John B. Rowell, Jr. of Abbeville and two nieces and one nephew also survive.
