Obituary

William F. “Bill” Nye, 58, of Weare, NH died February 14, 2005, after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with cancer.

He was born in Barre, VT on July 9, 1946, the son of Gerald and Florence (Persons) Nye. He grew up in South Barre, VT and had lived in Westfield, MA for 11 years before moving to Weare, NH in 1987. He was educated in the Barre school system and attended Spaulding High School. After graduation, he joined the US Airforce and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Nye was a sales manager for Freightliner of NH Inc. in Londonderry. A devoted family man, he also enjoyed skiing, kayaking, golfing, and sailing. He was a kind and good person, a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was known by many friends and co-workers as Bill Nye "The Truck Guy".

Members of his family include his wife of 39 years, Nancy (Perry) Nye of Weare; 2 daughters, Stephanie (Nye) Spencer and her husband Geoff of Manchester and Kristen (Nye) Murphy and her husband Michael of Estero, FL; a son, W. Robb Nye of Weare; 3 grandchildren; his mother, Florence (Persons) Nye of South Barre, VT; one sister, Suzanne (Nye) Talbot and her husband Peter of West Lebanon, NH; one brother, Robert Nye and his long-time companion Holly Holden of South Barre, VT; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A memorial reception was held in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester on Friday February 18, 2005. Funeral services were private and at the convenience of the family.
