Obituary

Marguerite D. “Grans” (Hartel) Wallin, age 96, of North Easton, died Monday, May 04, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Boston and raised in Boston and Quincy a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Hartel. She had been a resident of North Easton for the past 16 years, previously living in Sandwich for many years.
A 1936 graduate of Quincy High School, Marguerite retired in 1988 from the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds. Previously, she was the secretary for Chief Barry of the Quincy Fire Department from 1960 to 1970.
Marguerite enjoyed music, playing the piano, and had been a member of the Cape Cod Sweet Adelines. She also enjoyed square dancing. Most importantly, Marguerite cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Marguerite is survived by her two daughters C. Joan Ortega of Raynham and Marguerite R. Abdoulaye of North Easton. She was the grandmother of Ernest, Dennis, Jarrod Ortega, Nicole Coite and the late Frank Ortega; great grandmother of Tori Ernst, Zack, Joe, Jill, Kyle, Marissa and Jude Ortega, Jacob, Paige and Madison Coite and Taylor and Abby Piccuito; and great great grandmother of Vivian and Carter Ernst. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Marguerite was the sister of the late Edna Wayson, Betty and Virginia Buckley and Ralph Hartel.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 9am for a funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church at 10am. Burial in Bay View Cemetery, Sandwich. Donations in Marguerite’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
