June (Osborne) Foley, formerly of Whitman, died in her Middleboro home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, May 2nd. She was 97 years old.
June was born on July 26, 1917, to William and Lora (Perkins) Osborne of Whitman. She was inseparable from her older sister, Beverly (Osborne) Donoghue, from an early age.
June graduated from Whitman High School in 1935. June married Robert S. Foley, a Scotland native and WWII veteran, in 1943. During the war, June worked for the British government as an ammunition inspector. June was employed by several other local small businesses including the Regal Shoe Factory, the United Shank Shop, Sally’s dress shop and Rose Lou’s dress shop. She also worked for the Whitman school system and was an active member of the Whitman community and the First Baptist Church of Whitman.
June is survived by her two devoted children: Cathleen Tinsley, and her husband Karl, of Middleboro, and Robert Foley, and his wife Judy, also of Middleboro. She is further survived by five loving grandchildren, whom she treasured: Kevin Tinsley, Mary Spinale, Heather Ebels, Kristen Farquharson and Michael Foley. June was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and beloved sister.
June was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She will be especially remembered for her quick wit, compassion and unfettered faith. Her unselfish and unwavering support of her family and friends will be sorely missed.
June’s funeral service will be held on Thursday May 7 at 10:00 AM, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday May 6.
