Obituary

Karen Lee Henton, 63, of Ben Hill County, Georgia, died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, May 5, 2015,at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ronny Griner officiating. Interment will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery, in Andersonville, Georgia. The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Henton was born June 29, 1951, in Washington, Indiana, to the late Jesse Van Winkle and Virginia E. George. She was a 1973 graduate of Washington High School and was a member of the American Legion and Auxiliary Post # 121, while living in Washington. Mrs. Henton moved to the community 27 years ago. She was a former restaurant manager and also a peanut inspector. She enjoyed activities working with her hands such as oil painting, making ceramics, knitting, crocheting, gardening, fishing and camping. Mrs. Henton was a member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her children: Victoria Harper Russ and Jarrod of Ocilla, Robin Brown Turner and Joshua of Carthage, Texas, Penny Walden and Jerry of Washington, Indiana; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Gary Lee Henton, and a brother Daniel Burris.
