Obituary

NATICK: William J. “Bill” Hillson, Sr. passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Center. He was eighty-three years old.

Born on December 11, 1931 in Boston, Bill was raised in Waltham and a graduate of Waltham High School.

In May of 1952, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly during the Korean War. After his military service, Mr. Hillson was employed as a tool and die maker with J L Thompson Company of Waltham for over forty years.

Bill enjoyed watching action movies, saltwater fishing, coin collecting, and caring for his yard and vegetable garden. He was a member of the Natick American Legion and a faithful member of St. Zepherin’s Church of Wayland where he attended Mass each week and said the Rosary daily. He had his routine of walking the Natick Mall with his friends and enjoyed coffee with them, doing word searches, reading the paper, having dinner with his son Bill every night and spending time with his daughter Judie and her family especially his three grandchildren Tom, Kristen and Katie. Visits were always fun, full of laughs, lots of one liners and many great memories.

Bill was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy A. (Kennealy) Hillson. Together they shared forty-eight years of marriage and the one thing that held true through all their years was his ultimate love and devotion to Dorothy. It was really something to behold!

He was a loving father of Judie E. Murray and her husband Tom of Medway and William J. Hillson, Jr. of Natick. Cherished grandfather of Tom Murray and his wife Sarah of Fairfield, CT, Kristen Darrow and her husband Shaun of York, Maine and Katie Murray of Brighton, formerly of Medway. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Good Shepherd Parish @ St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main St., (RT. 27) Wayland at 10:00AM on Tuesday, May 5th. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Natick following the Mass with Military Honors.

Contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
