Obituary

Philip L. L’Heureux, 96 formerly of Glen, NH, passed into eternal life at Sunrise of Gardner Park in Peabody on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. He was the loving husband of the late Agnes (Sullivan) L’Heureux and the late Mildred (Foster) L’Heureux.

Born and raised in Salem, MA, he was the son of the late Raoul and Yvonne (Bouchard) L’heureux. A World War II veteran as well as Korea and Vietnam, he served with the Army and was the Bronze Star recipient for bravery in the line of duty. Phil made the Army his career and served with distinction up until his retirement in 1962 as Lieutenant Colonel. Following his retirement, he worked in intelligence for the Depatrment of Defense until his retirement in 1983.

Following his retirement, he settled in Glen, NH where he was an avid golfer and passionate about the mountains and sking. He was active in the community and easily made many friends. Phil was a member Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway.

He is survived by his son, Peter A. L’Heureux and his wife Julie of Chicopee, MA, his daughter, Michelle D. Gallant of Salem, a brother, Robert A. L’heureux and his wife Gloria of Salem, three sisters, Emma Wright of San Antonio, TX, R. Patricia L’heureux of Salem, Marguerite A. Desjardins and her husband Conrad of Woodstock, NH, a sister- in-law Claudette L’heureux of Laconia, NH. He also leaves four grandchildren, Melissa Panasuik, Laura L’Heureux, Monique & Janelle Gallant, a great-grandson, Johathan Panasuik, as well as nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by several step-children, Kevin, Bart and Denise. He was predeceased by his brothers, Raoul, Jean & Gerard L’heureux and sisters, Jeannette and Alice L’heureux.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. to be followed by his funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 260 North St., on the Salem Peabody line at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
