Obituary

William R. “Bebop” Roy, 85, of Westport died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Catholic Memorial Home. He was the husband of Lorraine M. (Holland) Roy, they were married for 61 years.
A lifelong resident of Westport, he was son of the late Joseph P. and Georgianna (Jusseaume) Roy. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed carpenter and also worked at Tilliston in Fall River. Mr. Roy was a Communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. He was a loving father with a great sense of humor and an avid sports fan.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Catholic Memorial Home and the Artificial Kidney Center of Fall River for their support and care of Mr. Roy.
Including his wife, he is survived by a son: Michael R. Roy; a daughter: Deborah A. Ledoux and her husband Denis of Westport; a brother: Gilbert Roy of KY; a sister: Cora Hebert of Westport; 4 grandchildren: Jill Roy, Jessica Roy, Jeffrey Fonseca and Andrew Ledoux; 2 great grandchildren: Laura Ledoux and Beckett Vieira and a third on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
He was father of the late David P. Roy and brother of the late Philip Roy and Norman Roy.
Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited for both Mr. Roy and his son David will be Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Grace Church at 10:00 A.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
At the family’s request, calling hours are respectfully omitted.
