Charles R. “Dick” Quinn, 64, of Hudson, died on Wednesday, April 29th surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Hudson. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Christine L. (Moore) Quinn of Hudson.
Dick was born in Newton, son of the late Timothy and Catherine (Doucette) Quinn. He was raised in Stow where he attended local schools and was a 1968 graduate of Nashoba Regional High School. Following high school he spent many years working on the family dairy farm, Maple Lane Farms in Stow. He later worked as a security officer with the Digital Equipment Corp. in Hudson until he joined the Sudbury Police Department in 1980 as a full time Police Officer. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and later his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College. He spent time as an Instructor in Criminal Justice at Massachusetts Bay Community College. In 2006 Dick retired from his full time duties with the Sudbury Police Department but remained active with the department as a reserve officer. He was a member of Saint Isidore Parish in Stow for many years and cherished his time serving as an organist with the parish.
Dick had many interests throughout his life but truly enjoyed music and serving as an organist for many organizations including Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson and the wonderful Portuguese Choir Group and his Saint Isidore Parish in Stow. He always looked forward to spending time with his family and truly adored his 9 grandchildren. His unique sense of humor and joyful personality will be missed by all.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles R. Quinn Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Chelmsford, Andrew D. Quinn and his wife Heather of Rotterdam, NY, Thomas E. Quinn of Shrewsbury and James N. Quinn of Ayer along with his daughter in Law, Tanya Quinn of Athol. He is also survived by his three sisters, Sister Maryann Quinn of Marlboro, Norma MacKay of Billerica, Janet Shanshiry of Newton; his five brothers, Lawrence Quinn of Newton, Stephen Quinn of Berlin, Robert Quinn of Clinton, Edward Quinn of Maynard; John Quinn of Maynard; his eight loving grandchildren, Liam, Dillan and Shane Quinn of Chelmsford, Daniel, William and Andrew Quinn of Rotterdam, NY, Cecelia and Evelyn Quinn of Athol and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Grace Quinn and was the brother of the late Timothy Quinn Jr., Bevan Quinn and Joseph Quinn.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday May 4th at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Isidore Church, 429 great Road, Stow. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Stow. Calling hours will be held on Sunday May 3rd from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
