Obituary

NEW BEDFORD -- Rufus B. Ellis, 80, of New Bedford died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Leroy and Abbie (Cleveland) Ellis, he resided in this area all of his life.
For many years he was a driver for Checker Cab and Standard Cab.
Mr. Ellis served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his companion, Beth LaFountain of New Bedford; a brother, Irving Ellis of Mattapoisett; a sister, Alberta Dion of California; a son, Russell Heuberger; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was the brother of the late Alice Hartley, Mabel LaFleur, and Nathaniel B., Leroy Jr., Herbert and Elmore B. Ellis.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday February 17, 2005 in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St. New Bedfrod, Ma.
