Rosamond C. (DeRoche) Nalewski 86 of Woonsocket, RI passed away on April 29, 2015 at Home & Hospice Care of RI. She was born November 15, 1928 in Woonsocket, daughter of Edward J. and Catherine C. (O’Keefe) DeRoche.
She was predeceased by her loving husband John. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Oct. 2012.
Rosamond leaves her two children, John J. Nalewski of Massachusetts and Catherine (Nalewski) Ward and her husband, John Ward of Woonsocket. She is also survived by her two grandsons, the joys of her life, Patrick J. Ward and his wife Amy of Ashburn, VA, the proud parents of her great grandchildren Elle, Henry, and Brady, and HM2 (DV) Christopher J. Ward, USN. Rosamond is also survived by her brothers, Edward DeRoche of San Diego, CA, Paul DeRoche of North Providence, RI and Robert DeRoche of Milwaukee, WI and several nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, RI, she attended the Randolph School for the Deaf and finished her education at Rhode Island School for the Deaf. She and her family lived in Worcester until 1971 and then settled back in Woonsocket. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her life, her family and all of her extended families. She loved making wedding blankets and baby blankets for all the babies that came into her life. And, she loved Bingo. No one was a gentler soul. Rosamond worked for Tupperware and American Tourister in her earlier years. She was a member of the RI Deaf Senior Citizens & the Alumni Association of the RI School for the Deaf.
Her funeral with calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 beginning at 8:30 am at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 190 North Main Street, Woonsocket, RI. She will be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St. Prov. RI.
