Manchester– Norman R. Gelinas, 75, died April 26, 2015 at Merrimack Valley Hospice in Haverhill MA. following a brief illness.
He was born in Manchester on September 20, 1939 the son of Henry and Madeleine (Prince) Gelinas.
He attended 2 years at NH Technical College studying to be a Draftsman.
He served his country in the U. S. Army. He worked in the family business, Gelinas Cleaners as well as for the Manchester Union Leader. He was also in the Manchester Police Patrol and a Manchester cab driver.
He was a hard working, kind , and generous man, who was always helping those in need. He enjoyed the outdoors and was avid car enthusiast.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard D. Gelinas on March 16, 2014.
Family members include 2 grandchildren, Jessica Gelinas and Jason Gelinas, both of Manchester, daughter in law, Linda Gelinas of NH, 1 brother, Richard H. Gelinas and his wife, Rebecca of Manchester, 1 sister, Lucille Pratte and her husband, Roger, of Bedford, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in St. Anthony Church.
Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Norman’s name to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall St. # 104, Manchester NH 03101.
