WAYLAND: Robert J. Alimenti, 79, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Emerson Hospital after being stricken with cardiac arrest at his residence earlier in the day.
He was born in Boston on September 19, 1935 the son of the late Augustino Alimenti and Josephine (Pincerni) Alimenti.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years Janice B. (Collins) Alimenti of Wayland. Beloved father of Gina Alimenti and her husband Bryan F. Curran of Bellingham and Robert Alimenti of North Providence, RI. Brother of Dorothy Lunn of Milford and Joan Cussen of Franklin. Also survived by five nieces and two nephews.
Bob has been a resident of Wayland for over 38 years and previously resided in Walpole. He spent his formative years in Boston where he was educated. Bob spent many years as a truck driver with Antonellis Trucking and as a mechanic for several years with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. He also spent years as a welder and a heavy equipment operator.
Bob enjoyed spending time fixing anything that needed to be mended. He loved all animals and feeding the many variety of birds in his backyard sanctuary. He spent endless hours gardening and growing flowers at his residence. In his own way, he gave the very best of himself to his family and friends. He was always there in a minutes notice to help anyone he could and always put others first before himself. Although he could be a very stubborn man, he had the biggest heart and was very sacrificial when it came to his beloved wife and children.
A private memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family.
In lieu of flowers his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Bob’s memory be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Ste 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 and would be greatly appreciated.
