STANDISH- Donna F. Higgins, 76, passed away from a long term illness on April 26, 2015, after being treated with the tender love and care of the staff at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Donna was born on Feb. 5, 1939 in Gray, Maine, daughter of the late Donald and Charlotte (Webster) Stevens.
She was raised in Gray where she attended local schools and graduated from Pennell Institute. Donna earned her teaching degree by attending night classes at PRVTC (now PATHS) and began teaching Adult Education for the Portland School Systems for 20+ years.
Donna's favorite TV shows were Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her other interests were basketball, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and sewing.
Her greatest passions were her family and cats. With her husband William “Bill”, they raised a large family with a good dose of gentleness, humor, and unconditional love.
Donna is survived by her husband William “Bill” Higgins of Standish; her children- Cheryl Josserand of Sabattus, Donald Higgins of Standish, Scott Higgins of Auburn, Sean Higgins of Gray, Deana Higgins of Portland, and Marie Cook of Sabattus; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one expected great great grandchild; several in-laws; and nieces & cousins.
At her request, there will be a celebration of her life that will be announced at a later date.
