Anthony J. Fertitta
Retired Polaroid Technician
TEWKSBURY: Anthony J. “Tony” Fertitta, age 75, a resident of Tewksbury for 25 years, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Friday, April 24, 2015, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Mary A. (Morris) Fertitta, with whom he would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on October 1, 2015.
Born in Lowell on November 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Roger and Elizabeth (Vincent) Fertitta.
Tony was raised in Lowell, attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Technician by the Polaroid Corporation in Waltham, where he worked for 25 years.
Tony resided in Chelmsford and Westford until moving to Tewksbury.
He was a former longtime member of the Chelmsford Elks and the Chelmsford Lions Club.
Tony loved taking cruises to the Caribbean and traveling to Florida, Arizona, Las Vegas, and Mexico.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Charles J. Fertitta and his wife Darlene of Chelmsford, Mark A. Fertitta and his wife Monique of Ft. Myers, FL and Christopher J. Fertitta and his wife Rebecca of Cape Coral, FL; six grandchildren, Cara, Michael, Marisa, Ashley, C.J., and Darien; one great grandson, Gavin; also several nieces and nephews.
Tony was the brother of the late Marie Hurley.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 30, from 5-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Friday, May 1, at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony’s memory may be made to the Cancer Center at the Lowell General Hospital, 295 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854.
