Zonia and his life partner, Linda Langevin Jowett of Worcester; two brothers, Arthur Soter and his wife, Helen of Monroe, CT and George Soter and his wife, Carol of Worcester; her sister-in-law, Flora Soter of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Soter and a sister, Genevieve Apostola.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Koli and Celia (Rucho) Soter. Mrs. Zonia was valedictorian at Lamartine Street School and attended the former High School of Commerce. She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and was president of its Ladies Auxiliary. During World War II, she had worked assisting with the manufacture of life preservers contributing to the war effort. Angelina was a food preparer for Table Talk Pie Company, an inspector at Worcester Woven Label, a shipper at Anderson Corporation and most recently worked as a waitress at Dante’s Inferno and then The Broadway. She also was an instructor for Weight Watchers.
Angelina enjoyed hosting meals for family and friends, and cooking ethnic meals. It was her pistachio cake that was among her favorites at these meals. The one thing she grew to enjoy and love was her early morning waitressing shifts at the Broadway Restaurant. More than almost anything, she would rather work and socialize with the many customers and colleagues that later became friends. She will be remembered and loved by all those privileged to have met her. When you sit down to your first cup of coffee in the morning, Angie will be serving you.
Her funeral is Wednesday, April 29th with a service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 28th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
