Obituary

Bessie “Alma” Howell Harrod, 80, of Omega passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Bethel Baptist Church in Omega with Rev. Howard Burke officiating. Mrs. Harrod will be laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Omega with Rev. Conway Harris officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, A[pril 25, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Harrod will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Harrod’s grandsons, David Walker, Stevie Walker, Shane Garrison, Danny Danger, Derrell Wilkerson and Johnny Harrod, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Harrod was born October 10, 1934 in Tift County, the daughter of Willie E. Howell and Rebecca Bennafield Howell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband Alec “Harford” Harrod; a grandson, Ben Harrod; a granddaughter, Samantha Harrod; four sisters; and two brothers. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Harrod is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Alec and Marlene Harrod of Steinhatchee, Florida, Johnny and Kathy Harrod of Warwick and Benny and Ann Harrod of Omega; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Bobby Walker of Omega and Martha and Roger Hardy of Warwick; her grandchildren and their spouses, Stevie and Stacey Walker of Omega, David and Laura Walker of Ocilla, Bill Collier Jr and Kelly McWhorter of Rochelle, Shane and Lechia Garrison of Warwick, R. T. and Nancy Hardy of Seville, Kattie Hardy of Seville, Brandy and Danny Danger of Moultrie, Amanda Nasworthy and Ellis Cobb of Ashburn, Brittany Harrod and Paul Brinson of Moultrie, Frankie Harrod of Old Town, Florida, Brandon Harrod of Steinhatchee, Florida, Becky and Derrell Wilkerson of Old Town, Florida, Johnny Lee Harrod, Jr. of Cheifland, Florida, Hope Bennett of Warwick and Amber Garnto of Douglas; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Vercie Hester and Lucille and James Vickers, all of Tifton; Faye and Joe Kearce and Gerldine and Alfred Johnson, all of Omega.
