WORCESTER-Claire E. (Sykes) Jordan, 87, of 4 Albert Street, died Friday, February 11th in the Life Care Center of Auburn. Her husband Arthur Jordan died in 1975. She leaves a niece Carole wife of Gene Stabile and their family of New Hampshire, and her goddaughter Sandra Marsh of Florida. A brother Harry Sykes and a sister Bernice Lloyd predeceased her.
She was born in Auburn the daughter of Ernest and Helen (Sivret) Sykes. Mrs. Jordan was one of the founders of the former New England Offset Company and was a lithographer for 18 years, retiring in 1961. Previously she had worked at M. J. Whittall, Bradwood Papers and the Worcester Lithograph Company. Claire was a lover of all animals and belonged to many animal rights groups.
The funeral is Monday, February 14th with a service at 1:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from Noon until the time of the funeral.
