Millie Gay Wynn, 87, of Ashburn passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Tift Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Irwin County on March 9, 1928, Mrs. Wynn lived in Turner and Irwin Counties all of her life. The daughter of the late Joseph Henderson and Sarah Lou Mauldin Gay, she was a life-long member of Eureka Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Wynn was an employee of the Manhattan Shirt Factory where she was employed until she became a homemaker and caregiver for her husband when his health began to decline. She loved to cook, attend church and study her Bible. Her family was her life and she always got great joy from cooking and having her family over for meals in her home. Her granddaughter, Emmie, and her two great granddaughters, Josie and Lillie, were the joys of her life.
Mrs. Wynn is survived by a son, Doston Joseph Wynn (Karen) of Ashburn; granddaughter, Emmie Lou Wynn Rigdon (Brad) of Ashburn; great-granddaughters, Josie and Lillie Rigdon of Ashburn. She is also survived by five nephews, Donald Gay, Jody Gay, Ronnie Gay, Freddie Gay and Anthony Gay as well as two nieces, Delores Gay Butts and Teresa Parnell.
Mrs. Wynn was preceded in death by a brother, George Henry Gay.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Friday evening, April 24, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel.
While flowers will be accepted, for those that wish they may make donations to Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, Ashburn, Georgia, in memory of Mrs. Wynn.
