Obituary

Bridgewater - Margaret J. (Fortune) McLaughlin, 86, of Bridgewater died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick McLaughlin.

Born May 17, 1918, in Roslindale, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Janet (Young) Fortune.

Raised and educated in Needham, Mrs. McLaughlin was a graduate of Needham High School.

She worked as a supervisor at K-Mart in Brockton for 10 years and she was the first treasurer of the Youth Soccer Association in Bridgewater.

Mrs. McLaughlin had been a resident of Bridgewater for the past 38 years and enjoyed painting and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret A. Chicoine of Bridgewater; two sons, Frederick T. McLaughlin Jr. of Raynham and Robert McLaughlin of Middleboro; a sister, Mildred Fortune of Maine; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Richard Fortune.

Her funeral will be held at 8:15 a.m. Monday from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rt. 18), Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 a.m. Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater.

Visiting hours are Sunday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Greater Brockton, 500 Belmont St., Suite 215, Brockton, MA 02301.
