Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Obituary
Mrs. Alves died Tuesday at the Life Care Center of Raynham after a lengthy illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Antonio M. and Elvira C. (Martins) Mota. She was raised in Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, and came to the United States in 1969 residing in Brockton since that time. She had been employed by Stride Rite in Brockton retiring in 1980. Mrs. Alves had been a communicant of St. Patrick Church and was devoted to the holy rosary. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Fernando Alves, Victor Alves and his wife Susan and a daughter, Carmen Igreja and her husband Fernando all of Brockton, five grandchildren Mark and his wife Kori and Lisa Alves; Marco, Liz and Carla Igreja and survived by many nieces and nephews in Portugal.
Wife of the late Humberto C. Alves and sister of the late Conceicao Martins, Gilda Freitas, Dr. Manuel Martins-Mota and Julio Martins-Mota.
