Obituary



MILLBURY – Eugene R. Ethier Sr., 88, died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Michelena A. (Laganelli) Ethier of Millbury, who died in 2012. He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca J. Martella and her husband John of Auburn, and Kathleen M. Desroches and her husband John of Oxford; three sons, Eugene R. Ethier Jr. and his wife Cindy of Dudley, Steven F. Ethier and his wife Ellen of Oxford, and Kenneth R. Ethier and his wife Keiko of Charlton; three sisters, Barbara Morrow of Worcester, Rita Beaudry of Paxton, and Patricia Swett of Worcester; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Joseph Ethier; and a sister, Doris E. Beaudry. He was born in Leicester, son of the late Francis and Helen M. (Levesque) Ethier, and lived in Millbury for 52 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 83rd Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.

Mr. Ethier was a quality control engineer at Montrose Wire Products in Auburn for over 45 years. He was one of the oldest members of the Model Engine Collectors Association and loved building and flying model airplanes. He loved technology, and enjoyed photography and restoring old radios, T.V.’s and cameras. He loved traveling with his wife and attending Tom Mix and Buck Jones festivals throughout the country. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, and a truly dedicated family man.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
