Marion Rae (Bliven) Wells, 94, of Mystic died Monday, April 13th, 2015 at Fairview Nursing Home in Groton. Her husband of 58 years, William Lester Wells, predeceased her in 2001.
She was born on December 11th, 1920 in New London, the daughter of William Ray and Florence (Prince) Bliven. She graduated from the Williams School in 1938. She married her husband in Oklahoma prior to his deployment to Europe as a B-17 pilot.
She worked as a graphic artist and draftsperson, and also worked for 20 years as a librarian at the Groton Public Library. She was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Pequot Golf Club in Stonington. She enjoyed traveling, drawing, painting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, David A. Wells and his wife Ann, of Gales Ferry and Dana R. Wells and his wife Sandy of Alabama, as well as her granddaughter, Caitlin Ryan and her two great grandchildren, Keagan and Jackson.
There will be no calling hours. A private burial will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic on Monday, April 20th, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service. Donations in her memory may be made to The National Stroke Foundation.
