Obituary

NATICK: William Joseph Doren, Jr. passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at his residence. He was eighty-four years old and the son of the late William J. Sr., and Elizabeth (McGlinchey) Doren.

Bill was the first graduating class of Stonehill College in 1947 and worked as a model maker for twenty-five years, developing the wind tunnel to draft the space shuttle and the deep diving probe “Alvin”.

He later worked for the U.S Postal Service in Wellesley as the night supervisor for twenty-five years and after his retirement; he continued to work as a security guard at Nahanton Woods in Needham for ten years.

Mr. Doren was a member of the Army National Guard for nine years and St. Zepherin’s Church of Wayland. He enjoyed building model ships, reading, listening to Classical Music, puttering around his yard, flowers and watching the sky for stars and the space shuttle flying overhead.

He was a fifty year member of the Natick Kiwanis and was the editor of the club's newsletter for thirty years.

Bill was the devoted husband of Barbara A. (Boland) Doren of Natick and together they shared sixty years of marriage. He was the loving father of Robert M. Doren and his wife Deborah of Millis and the late William F. Doren. Cherished grandfather of Maureen E. Doren of Quincy and Caitlin M. Doren of Millis and the brother of the late Margaret Ravagno.

Bill’s funeral will be held from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Thursday, April 23rd at 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Good Shepherd Parish @ St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main St., (RT 27) Wayland at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.

Visiting hours Wednesday, April 22nd from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to Parmenter Community Care & Hospice, 266 Cochituate Rd., Wayland, MA 01778.
