Janice M. (Cheschi) Hayes, a 62 year resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at her home in Charlestown following an extended illness. She was 84 years old.
Janice was born in Milford, Massachusetts on February 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Antonio Cheschi and Maria (Marcolongo) Cheschi. She grew up in Milford where she was educated in the Milford Public School system and graduated from Milford High School. Janice worked for more than 15 years for John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston as a food service provider. She loved to cook and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of The Somerville City Club. Janice's passion in life was her family and she took so much pride in caring for her children and their families.
Janice is the beloved wife of the late Joseph D. Hayes. She is the devoted mother of Jane Porter and her husband Joseph of Charlestown, Joseph Hayes and his fiancé Linda Blais of Seabrook, New Hampshire, Judy Hayes of Charlestown, Janet Lawton of Charlestown, Joanne Suprey of Billerica and James Hayes and his wife Janet of Charlestown. She is the loving Gram to 10 grandchildren and loving Gigi to 7 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Amelia Giampetro of Foxboro and pre-deceased by her 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She is the dear friend of Jeanne Skinner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Janice's Funeral on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 3 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
