Mary DaLomba Azevedo, 83, of New Bedford passed away on Thursday April 16, 2015 peacefully at her home.
May was the daughter of the late Manuel and Auta DaLomba and sister to the late John DaLomba. Mary and her late husband Captain Rafael Azevedo came the United States from Cabo Verde in 1952.
Mary loved and enjoyed life. She was always smiling and enjoyed being with family and friends. She had the voice of an angel and would sing for her family often. Those who knew her will remember her kind, caring, and gentle way. She was a friend and helper to everyone. Mary gave her love freely to everyone and in return the love she got back was immeasurable.
Mary had a strong faith in God. God was always first in her life.
Mary is survived by her brother, Jose DaLomba of Dorchester; her children, Elizabeth Flowers, Manuel and Joseph Azevedo, Sarah Gonsalves, Sandra Doyle, and Carol Monteiro; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
For many years, she was cared for by Kerri Tavares and enjoyed the special friendship of Rainbow Livant.
Mary will be sadly missed, but the love that she gave will live in our hearts forever.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at the International Church of the Nazarene, 284 Pleasant St., New Bedford, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
